How to Eliminate Constipation
in Seven Days or Less This article is intended to help you to learn how to eliminate
constipation in seven days. It goes without saying that the topic of
constipation is quite often met with laughter or ridicule and
“Exlax” jokes. But for those of you who have
experienced it, you know that constipation is far from a laughing
matter, at least when it's actually happening to you. Constipation is a condition
which is painful and, even worse, it can actually cause your body to
become internally poisoned as waste materials that need to be removed
from your body linger and breed harmful bacteria and waste gases.
Constipation can also cause your stomach to look bloated, and who wants
that?
Constipation is painful, uncomfortable, and potentially harmful. If you
know how to eliminate constipation in seven days whenever you may have
the painful misfortune of needing to eliminate constipation at all, you
can live a healthier, more joyful life. Again, that may sound humorous,
but the reality is that it's a serious medical or health condition that
requires treatment.
It's important to understand whether or not you are truly constipated.
The last thing you need is to think that you have a serious medical
condition when there's nothing wrong. Not everyone needs to take a
bowel movement break with the same frequency. On average, a person has
a bowel movement once per day.
But there are those who “need
to go” as often as three times per day, while others only
need to go as little as three times per week. The factors that cause
this variance in individuals include lifestyle, diet, and genetic body
type. However, no matter who you are, if you have gone for as long as,
or longer than, three days without a bowel movement, you may be
constipated. And you most definitely are constipated if at least two of
the following conditions are applicable to you:
- You have hard, painful-to-pass stools
25% or more of the time.
- You have to strain during your bowel
movements 25% or more of the time.
- You cannot completely eliminate the
waste in your colon 25% or more of the time.
- You only “go” once
or twice per week.
Causes
of Constipation
Constipation problems are rarely caused by physiological problems. In
other words, constipation is almost always a disorder. There are many
possible causes of the disorder:
- Insufficient hydration.
- Insufficient amounts of fiber.
- Eating or drinking disproportionately
large amounts of dairy products.
- A disruption of routine, such as a lot
of travel within a short period of time.
- High stress levels.
- Not enough exercise or physical movement.
- Holding in stools. This sounds
disgusting, or funny, but in fact people who have hemorrhoids or
irritable bowel syndrome might consciously or subconsciously do this.
- Consuming too many laxatives. This
sounds counterintuitive, but in fact taking too many laxatives can
weaken the bowel muscles.
- Insufficient levels of thyroid hormone
being produced within the body.
- Neurological diseases.
- Consuming antacids that contain aluminum
or calcium.
- Consuming narcotics, powerful pain
killers like morphine, antidepressants, or iron supplements.
- Colon cancer.
- Pregnancy.
- Weak nerve endings or muscles in the
bowels.
What may happen to you when you are constipated? There are several
different things in addition to the most obvious problem of not being
able to have bowel movements frequently enough for optimal health and
comfort. You may experience abdominal pain and even swelling of the
abdomen, making you look like you have a “fat gut”.
You might feel bodily pain in general. You may experience throwing up
on a regular or frequent basis.
The “good news” in all of this is that if you are
suffering from constipation, you probably do not have any other serious
illness that is causing it. Constipation is a disorder that might
affect nearly anyone for one or more reasons. Yes, above in the last it
was mentioned that you may have colon cancer if you are experiencing
constipation, but in truth you probably don't. If you have been
constipated for more than two weeks, you should go in for medical
testing just to make sure, but you should not jump to conclusions and
panic yourself. Definitely call your doctor to set up an appointment
immediately if:
*Constipation has lasted for at least two weeks and it's never happened
to you before.
*You're passing bloody stools.
*You have seen strange coloration in your stools for more than two
weeks.
*Your bowel movements are causing you severe pain.
*You are losing weight and can't figure out why.
What Can I Do to Eliminate Constipation in Seven Days or Less?
You might think that you need to buy or be prescribed a laxative if you
are
constipated. Well, that may do the trick, but you can actually find
other ways to eliminate constipation problems in short order.
- Try drinking more water. Give yourself
an additional two eight ounce glasses of water each day and see if that
helps. Try adding a little lemon juice or lime juice to the water, too.
You may simply be dehydrated.
- Drink hot coffee. Drink decaffeinated
coffee if you are caffeine sensitive or have some other reason why you
don't want to consume a lot of caffeine. Coffee can act as a laxative.
- Drink 100% pure grape juice or cranberry
juice.
- Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Eat black beans or chili beans.
- Put more hot sauce on your foods.
- Eat prunes or drink prune juice.
- Start using corn syrup on your waffles
and pancakes.
- Eat whole grains, especially bran,
instead of refined “white” grains.
- Remove white bread, pasta, sugar, and
corn from your diet entirely (until your condition is gone).
- Cut back on dairy products, especially
cow's milk and ice cream.
- Consume more foods and beverages rich in
vitamin C.
- Drink beer (if you don't have any
personal problems with alcohol).
You may have to still resort to using OTC laxatives. If that's the
case, and you have to use them for more than two weeks and still don't
have complete recovery, call your doctor.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. There are ways that
you can prevent the painful and embarrassing condition of
constipation
from ever striking you again.
*Get plenty of dietary fiber and liquids in your diet on a daily basis.
Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat whole grains. Make sure you drink
plenty of liquids that don't contain sugar.
*Work out. Get plenty of exercise. Don't be sedentary.
*Never use antacids unless you absolutely have to.
*Never hold in a bowel movement unless you simply don't have any
choice, such as if you're traveling in a car and there's nowhere to
pull off to use a toilet.
Yes, you can indeed cure constipation or, at least, you should have
learned some tricks to help you to eliminate
constipation within a week.
